If you are looking for a budget-friendly short gun for self-defense, congratulations! I am sure that Taurus PT111 G2 is the best choice for you. What you have is an ideal size for concealed carry yet still comes with a great 12-round magazine.
But nothing is perfect, and Taurus PT111 G2 is no exception. Well, let’s discover its biggest problems in this post below.
Is The Taurus Pt 111 G2 Considered As A Safety Gun?
Safety is the first priority. And by that, I mean your safety when using this gun.
Well, Taurus PT111 G2 does come with reliable safety, thanks to the key-locking feature.
Chances are, you’ll get accidental discharges just by dropping the gun with a loaded chamber. Luckily, Taurus also arms its gun with a drop safety on the trigger.
So, what I want to say here is: Safety on, every time! And remember to empty the chamber when it’s not in use.
Is it Reliable?
The second thing that you should notice when purchasing a Taurus PT111 G2 is reliability. I guess it’s really hard for you to put more than 200 rounds of rage. You are not even sure that guns are good for you to shoot or injure you.
In other words, it’s hard for you to load the clip. If you intend to pack 10 or more rounds, you need a super grip with your weak hand and a strong thumb on the other! As long as you put up pressure on the mag when racking the slide, it will not happen.
Is It Accurate?
Besides, accuracy is the biggest concern about this gun as it can only deliver satisfying performance in the range of up to 7 or 10 yards. Beyond that, the result starts to go downhill.
While that sounds disappointing for some users, others will feel that capacity is enough for self-defense.
Fit and Finish?
The overall level of fit and finish of the guns is more than excellent; in fact, you can also find that a few small glitches away from this gun somewhat frustrate you. A few rough plastic edges of the trigger disappear when you give them a few careful wipes with 800-grit sandpaper.
There is a very slight stain on the top of the slide behind the ejection port or locking block. It’s so faint that you couldn’t notice, but it’s still there.
In addition, maybe the slide’s action on the frame rails is greater than you expected, given the very good machining of the slide/barrel assembly.
PT 111 G2 Lemon - Quality Issues
Cleaning is a must to maintain your firearm, especially after a strenuous shooting session. But the teardown and reassembling are a little bit tricky for newbies. It's likely to get stuck when you line the slide up with the rail. In this case, perhaps the string is not in the right place. Check it again!
Some of you will pull the magazine out and clear it, but when you try to pull the slide back to lock it, it bound up and wouldn't go back.
Particularly, when you pulled the slide off, you would find that the back of the larger spring was coming over the shoulder.
